Oatman Hotel

At the Oatman Hotel bar in Arizona along Route 66, we stopped for a cold beer on a hot day. The bartender told us the place was plastered with about $65,000 in dollar bills.

This one's nice. Almost like you were suspended in the air for this shot. Sat 7-Nov-2009 03:35

Joel On The Edge

It doesn't look that close to the edge, and it really wasn't, but Joel said there was no way to trick himself into thinking he was just standing on a sidewalk.

Ann Arbor to Los Angeles

From here to there.

Our basic route from Ann Arbor, Michigan to Los Angeles, California last week.

Hard to tell on this map, but a lot of it between Colorado and California was on two-lane back roads with side trips to see the scenes. That included a section of the original Route 66 in western Arizona that passes through Oatman. About 65 miles of excellent-for-Mustang GT-spirited-driving connected Oatman to the two ends between highways.

I would have been highly ticked had your route taken you on I-70 and you not tagged me to let me know you were breezing through. Looks like it was a fun trip. Mon 2-Nov-2009 19:16

Glenwood Canyon, Colorado

Glenwood Canyon, along I-70 in Colorado. This was a stop to hike up to Hanging Lake. It was wonderful. Make sure to see it!

To pinch the words of Zaphod Beeblebrox, "You can really Be here man!" Yes it is certainly quite beautiful with the Fall colours Sun 18-Oct-2009 03:26

How well has the area recovered from the terrible fires of a few years back? Mon 2-Nov-2009 19:21

Juli ~ you be the judge!

I actually didn't see any evidence of fire here in Colorado. But at the north rim of the Grand Canyon, miles and miles of forest have been turned into standing deadwood.

OK, I'm totally caught up on you now. You know I have to ask (and I hope I'm not touching on heartbreak)...is Sweetie teaching them the ropes? Hope you and yours are all well (you look it). We are great! DJ's back with us for a few months before he goes into the Air Force. It's awesome. Mon 2-Nov-2009 19:41

The Air Force was the best thing I did for my young, dumb self. Good for him!
Sweetie has been hissing and kicking kitten ass and sometimes playing.
You know, I thought your persistence would pay off in the long run. I'm happy for you and your family situation.
