1968 Quicksilver Messenger

a.k.a. Heavy Metal Messenger

I saw two nostalgia cars this weekend past. An old family station wagon (still running strong judging from the 65 mph it was doing on the highway) and a VW bus. Can't recall the last time I saw either one of those vehicles and it made me think of cars that have come and gone in my life. It also made me think of you. Mon 22-Jun-2009 19:10

Street Scene Rat Rod School Bus

Wicked old school bus hot rod travel trailer from Ontario.
Seen yesterday at the FlyingJ truck stop in Lansing, MI
Our friends from Canada know how to kick ass.

Got to love the FlyingJ. Best gas prices anywhere, and not bad food either... Sun 21-Jun-2009 17:06

Senior Photo

Working with friend CWest on a senior portrait photo shoot, we spent most of an afternoon at Crystal Mountain and Manistee, Michigan, he the professional and me the assistant and candids shooter. But on our return drive, we stopped at a falling-apart abandoned homestead for some interesting backdrops. Our beautiful young model looked lovely in the tall grass.

Cops Guard The Crosswalk

That should be just about enough police presence to keep the crosswalk safe. The road was shut down for Festival '09, but you never know when a rogue bicyclist or something is going to need arresting.

Happy Popcorn Smile

Here's the little girl sharing laughs and a smile with the young woman in the previous foto. She crammed popcorn into her mouth non-stop till it was gone, giggling and exchanging some animated conversation with her friend.

Happy Pretty Smile

While waiting at Rosa Parks Circle park stage for my kids' dance troupe to take the stage, I found a grassy knoll under some trees. Refuge from the sun, it was also a good spot to people watch.
This young woman was chatting so happily with a little girl with whom she was sharing popcorn, I found myself smiling as I watched the two of them interact.

Pink Mary Kay Umbrella

Spent a few hours downtown today at Festival '09, an annual event in its 40th year, watching my kids dance, checking out the artists, and studying people. I'd mention the food, too, but it wasn't very good.

Here's a people-watching scene: a girl and her Mary Kay umbrella working together to shield the sunlight and brighten the day.
